Ecoflow RAPID Pro PowerBank
Introduction
Just one day after we published our review of the classic RAPID, EcoFlow surprised us by sending over one of the Pro versions from their lineup. So, it’s safe to say that a comparison is unavoidable.
Honestly, the standard version left us with a rather mixed opinion: a solid battery, but with a few shortcomings that could frustrate some users. So, will having this RAPID Pro in our hands change our minds about the previous version? Does this model really fix the issues we pointed out? Or would it have taken a perfect blend of both to create the ideal power bank?
In this article, we’re going to find out if buying the EcoFlow RAPID Pro is worth it. Does it really stand out from the other models in the range? Do its power and extra features justify the difference? And most importantly, who is this product aimed at? Let’s dive in and find out.
Exterior Design
The Pro version I received is the 27,650 mAh, and right out of the box, you can clearly see the difference compared to the standard RAPID. It’s a bit taller, a bit bulkier, and definitely a bit heavier: I weighed it at around 1.54 lbs (700 g), which is about 0.11 lbs (50 g) more than the regular version. Nothing too dramatic, but you can feel it in your hand, confirming that this product is designed to deliver more power.
When it comes to connectivity, the difference is clear: while the standard RAPID offered a retractable cable on the front and a USB-A port, this RAPID Pro goes all-in on USB-C. You’ll find three USB-C ports on the top (one capable of delivering up to 140 W, and two others limited to 65 W), making it clearly geared towards modern devices. No USB-A port this time, a deliberate choice that will please those who have fully transitioned to USB-C, but it might frustrate you if you still use older accessories.
On the back, EcoFlow has included a 60 cm (about 2 ft) retractable USB-C cable, handy for charging a device without worrying about carrying an external cable. This cable is sturdy and designed to last, which adds to the practicality of this Pro version.
Another difference: the battery has two buttons. One is a standard button, while the other is a two-position switch that allows you to navigate through the functions.
Underneath the product, there’s a special connector for plugging the battery into a dock designed for that purpose, but EcoFlow didn’t send me one.
Features of the EcoFlow RAPID Pro on Paper
On paper, the RAPID Pro is definitely impressive. With a capacity of 27,650 mAh (99.54 Wh), it goes even further than the classic version while still being approved for air travel*. What stands out is its power: up to 300 W total output, allowing you to charge four devices simultaneously, as long as you don’t exceed 300 W, of course. It comes with a 140 W integrated USB-C cable (about 1.97 ft), an additional 140 W USB-C port, and two more USB-C ports at 65 W each. That’s more than enough to power a demanding laptop like a MacBook Pro, a tablet, and a smartphone all at once.
The charging speed is equally impressive: thanks to the Pogo pin input combined with USB-C, the battery can reach 80% in just 20 minutes with the RAPID Pro 320 W charger. Even with a standard input, the charging times are significantly faster than most batteries on the market.
EcoFlow has also considered user comfort with a smart LCD screen that allows you to monitor the charge status, real-time power output, and even the internal temperature. Unlike the classic RAPID, this Pro version is compatible with the EcoFlow app, which opens up advanced features like display customization, power management, and battery lifespan optimization.
With its premium design, removable magnetic cases, and built-in safety features (drop resistance, V0 fireproof casing), the RAPID Pro clearly positions itself as a high-end battery for those who want power without compromise.
Product Test
Charging Performance: What the Specs Say vs. Reality
With its 27,650 mAh, the EcoFlow RAPID Pro Power Bank boasts high-level performance on paper, capable of competing with some desktop chargers. Its promise: to power a smartphone, tablet, and even a laptop simultaneously, thanks to a total output that can reach up to 300 W.
In practice, here’s what you can expect:
- Full charge of a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air about two times.
- Charge an iPhone 15 Pro or Samsung Galaxy S24 between 4 and 5 times.
- Simultaneous powering of multiple devices (laptop + tablet + smartphone) without noticeable power loss.
During my tests, I was able to connect my iPhone 15, an iPad Air, and my MacBook Pro M4 at the same time. The battery handled all three devices simultaneously without overheating or performance drops.
For the MacBook Pro, I used the USB-C in/out port with my MagSafe cable, while the iPhone and iPad were connected directly via the integrated cables (the retractable and the braided 60 cm). The result: smooth, fast, and stable charging across all three devices at once.
This is exactly the kind of scenario where the RAPID Pro shines: being able to power multiple heavy-duty devices on the go, without having to juggle between outlets or worry about power dropping off.
A Practical Everyday Use
You know what they say: if you can do more, you can do less. What I mentioned about the EcoFlow RAPID classic still stands for this Pro version: having such a battery in your daily life really changes the game. When you travel a lot, create content, or work outdoors, having that kind of capacity makes life so much easier. You don’t have to constantly calculate what will last or not: everything works, and then some.
I admit, I hadn’t thought of all the possible uses, but practically speaking, you can even use it for a portable gaming console, which tends to drain power quickly. And again, there’s no issue with battery life; the RAPID Pro handles it like a champ.
Another big advantage, just like the RAPID version, it’s airplane-approved. On a long flight, this allows you to work on your laptop, watch movies, or charge multiple devices without relying on a free outlet at the airport or a shared power strip during layovers.
The Pro version I tested comes with a 60 cm (about 2 feet) retractable cable, which is super handy for charging two devices side by side. However, I found this cable to be a bit more delicate than the one from the standard version, as if it’s more sensitive to wear and tear. And unlike the classic RAPID version, there’s no braided “dragon” cable here that also served as a handle: that’s a little innovation I wish had made a comeback.
One small downside is the lack of a USB-A port. At first, I thought it wouldn’t be an issue, but in practice, it can be a bit of a hassle. For instance, Caroline wanted to charge her MacOS keyboard, and the provided cable is USB-A. There’s no way to plug it directly into the battery. It’s not a dealbreaker for everyone, but it’s something to keep in mind, especially when you have both batteries from the range on hand for testing; you end up using the version below the Pro.
A TFT Display That Finally Delivers
One of the things that really disappointed me about the standard version was its TFT display. I found it outdated, not very readable, and clearly not up to par with the rest of the product. So, I was curious to see if the Pro version would fix that. And good news: it’s a completely different display.
First off, there are three buttons, which makes navigating the battery’s OS much simpler and more intuitive. Just like the base version, you can check overall information (across all ports), as well as details by port, whether it’s input or output. I find that super useful, especially when charging multiple devices at the same time.
Another pleasant surprise: EcoFlow has kept the fun aspect we saw in the smaller power banks from the lineup. When the battery is in pseudo-sleep mode, a cute animation of blinking eyes pops up on the screen. It’s a bit gimmicky, but honestly, it adds a nice touch and makes the battery feel almost “alive.” Yes, the RAPID Pro is smiling at us and winking!
Finally, in the settings menu, there’s an option that was missing from the standard version but is definitely here: Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. This allows you to integrate the RAPID Pro directly with the EcoFlow app, manage its ecosystem from your phone, and enjoy software updates. A real plus that was clearly lacking in the standard RAPID.
The EcoFlow Mobile App
I talk about it a lot, but that’s because it’s a real game-changer: the connection to the EcoFlow app. Good news, the RAPID Pro can be connected directly to your smartphone, and it’s still super easy. Just turn on Bluetooth on the battery, and in three clicks, it’s detected. After that, you can choose to keep it on Bluetooth only or add it to your Wi-Fi network for more comprehensive control.
The EcoFlow app lets you manage your ecosystem by grouping products by environment: for instance, a “home” mode for larger stations like the Delta or PowerStream, and a “portable” mode for the more compact batteries. It’s handy for organizing your gear and getting a clear view of everything that’s connected.
As always, the app provides detailed battery monitoring, with the ability to see cycles, health, real-time power, and customize certain settings. It’s really convenient to be able to monitor and control this type of device from your phone.
One small detail: unlike the smallest battery in the lineup, here there’s no “find my battery” option to locate it easily. Honestly, given the size of the RAPID Pro, it makes sense that it’s not essential, but it was a fun little feature I liked.
My Take on the ECOFLOW RAPID PRO
What do I think of the EcoFlow RAPID Pro? As the name suggests, it’s clearly designed for a more professional audience, or at least for those with needs that are a bit more demanding than average. And let’s just say, this version fully embraces that role.
I can easily see this battery being used by groups traveling together, or by anyone who needs to charge multiple devices quickly without losing power. It stands out with its capacity, power, and compatibility with the EcoFlow app, making it a truly comprehensive solution.
While the standard version is more geared towards the general public (with its built-in cables for those who don’t want to lug around extra cords), the Pro version targets those who already have all their gear ready and want a battery that can handle it all. No USB-A port here, but three ultra-powerful USB-C ports that perfectly meet today’s demands.
In the end, the RAPID Pro checks all the boxes for anyone looking for great battery life, true versatility, and advanced tracking through the app. Personally, I’d definitely recommend this version to those wanting the best balance between power and integration within the EcoFlow ecosystem.
