Here you’ll find the pretty abbey of Dunfermline, home to the graves of several Scottish kings, as well as the gardens of Pittencrieff Park. Two places with typical Scottish architecture.

Dunfermline’s history is marked by illustrious figures such as Malcolm III and his wife Marguerite, who contributed greatly to the town’s development. It’s also where the famous philanthropist Andrew Carnegie was born, as well as punk-rock and hard-rock bands like the Skids and Nazareth. His foundation left an undeniable mark, with the construction of the Carnegie Library, which has become a symbol of knowledge and education.

To get to Dunfermline by plane, you can arrive at various national and international airports. The closest airports to major cities are :

From Edinburgh: Edinburgh Airport, about 16 kilometers from Dunfermline.
From Glasgow: Glasgow International Airport, approx. 76 kilometers from Dunfermline.
From Dundee: Dundee Airport, approx. 98 kilometers from Dunfermline.

Once you’ve arrived at the airport of your choice, you can reach Dunfermline by public transport or hire a car.

To get to the UK, we didn’t use the Tunnel or the Ferry from Calais, we left from the Netherlands! From Rotterdam, it’s quite easy to reach the Kingdom in a relatively short time. All you have to do is follow the country’s east coast to reach the wonderful world of Scotland!
