Description
The SolarFlow 2400 AC+ addresses a specific situation: you already have solar panels on the roof, with their inverter, and you want to store the surplus without dismantling anything. It is an alternative coupling storage, which connects downstream of the existing installation instead of replacing the inverter.
Its specifications can be summarized in three figures: 2,400 Wh of integrated LiFePO4 battery, 2,400 W of bidirectional AC power, and a possible extension up to 16.8 kWh with five additional batteries.
Who is this device for?
It is primarily aimed at owners of an existing rooftop photovoltaic installation. This is its purpose, and it distinguishes it from the rest of the range: it has no DC panel input, it works with the inverter you already have.
It is also suitable for those aiming for power-hungry uses. With 2,400 W available, we are talking about domestic hot water, supplementary heating, or car charging during off-peak hours. Some users aim for configurations with multiple devices of this type to cover most of their consumption.
If you are starting from scratch, without an installed panel, consider the SolarFlow 800 Pro 2: it integrates a solar controller and connects directly to panels, for a significantly lower budget.
AC+, AC or Pro: how to differentiate
Zendure offers three 2,400 W models in the French catalog, and confusion is easy. However, the choice is simple.
The 2400 AC+ connects to an existing rooftop inverter. It has no DC panel input, and this is intentional.
The 2400 Pro includes an MPPT solar controller, which makes it suitable for an installation where panels are connected directly to the device.
The choice thus boils down to one question: do your panels already have an inverter? If yes, the AC+. If no, and you are buying the panels at the same time, the Pro.
Reasoning in euros per kilowatt-hour
This is the right reflex for this type of product, and it is a buyer who formulates it best. On a complete configuration of 11.52 kWh purchased on promotion, they calculate a cost of about €269 per kilowatt-hour of installed capacity.
The displayed price of the bare device is therefore not the right indicator. What matters is the total capacity cost once the batteries are added, related to the expected annual savings. Several users point out that the machine alone with its 2.4 kWh remains limited: additional batteries are not an option but the essence of the project.
Note that this calculation includes a VAT recovery specific to their country, which does not apply in France for individuals. The reasoning remains valid, but the final figure does not.
The backup function, and its limits
The device has a EPS function. In case of a power outage, it automatically switches to the battery to power what is connected to the off-grid outlet, with 2,400 W continuously and 3,600 W peak for 200 milliseconds.
This off-grid outlet works even when the device is not connected to the grid, making it a usable output in autonomy. However, two important restrictions apply.
A micro-inverter connected to this outlet only works if the device is connected to the grid. It accepts a maximum micro-inverter of 2,400 W, but not during an outage. This is the same limit as the rest of the range, and it stems from the neutral regime in which the device operates autonomously.
No generator should be connected to this outlet, neither thermal nor any source simulating the grid. The manufacturer is explicit: risk of damage and safety risk.
Control and home automation integration
This is the point that has long lacked clear answers, and it is now documented. The device works with the Zendure 3CT smart meter, versions D0 and P1, and also with third-party equipment: Shelly Pro 3EM, Shelly 3EM, and Everhome Ecotracker IR. The meter measures the household's actual consumption and the direction of the current, then adjusts the discharge power to the watt.
On the home automation side, MQTT is supported, with compatibility for Home Assistant and Homey announced. The tariff optimization covers over 840 European energy suppliers, allowing recharging when the price is low and discharging when it is high.
Be careful on one point: the RJ45 port of the device carries an RS485 connection, not Ethernet. It looks like a network port but is not one.
What users say
We have not had this device in hand. The feedback below comes from third-party testers and buyers, and we report it as such.
The described uses are concrete. One user powers his wife's beauty salon directly through the off-grid outlet. Another, equipped with two devices and two batteries with 6 kW of panels, says he covers most of his consumption and has reversed his profile between off-peak and peak hours. A third moves from 56% to a range of 75 to 80% self-consumption, at the beginning of autumn.
The reservations are instructive. The most repeated comes from users with panels from a competing brand: the app does not allow declaring an existing photovoltaic installation, and the surplus detected by the meter does not appear as solar production in the monitoring. The control works, but the visualization remains incomplete. Another points out a tricky setup in this configuration, which was resolved later.
The setup also requires knowledge of electricity for the meter installation, and the Zendure app is necessary for both configuration and supervision.
A contextual point on the connection
Used in plug and play on an outlet, the device does not require any special intervention. However, if you want to connect it to the distribution board to participate in a surplus buyback scheme, the connection must be made by a qualified electrician on a dedicated circuit breaker, with the corresponding declarations to the network operator.

Our verdict
Benefits
- Connects to an existing rooftop inverter: no need to dismantle the current installation
- 2,400 W bidirectional, enough to target hot water, auxiliary heating, or car charging
- Expandable to 16.8 kWh with five AB3000L batteries
- Recognized third-party meters: Shelly Pro 3EM, Shelly 3EM, Everhome Ecotracker IR, and MQTT to Home Assistant
- EPS function with 2,400 W continuous on the off-grid socket, 10-year warranty
Disadvantages
- No DC input for the panel: without an existing inverter, you need to look at the 2400 Pro. Alone with its 2.4 kWh, it remains limited; additional batteries are essential to the budget. The app does not allow you to declare panels from another brand: the surplus does not appear as solar production. A micro-inverter on the backup socket only works when the grid is present. Installing the meter requires knowledge of electricity.
The right product if your roof panels already have their inverter and you want to stop injecting your surplus for nothing. Think in euros per installed kilowatt-hour rather than the displayed price, as the batteries make up most of the cost. If you're starting from scratch without a panel, the SolarFlow 800 Pro 2 is much cheaper.
