AI tracking, the heart of the product
This is the point that all creators mention: once started, the tracking keeps you centered no matter what you do, as if you had a cameraman with you at all times. If someone walks in front, it picks you up; it can also track an object or multiple people at once, and pan 360 degrees without limits. On iPhone, the Flow 2 Pro is the first to integrate Apple DockKit: tracking works natively in the camera app and in over 200 applications, including FaceTime, WhatsApp, Twitch, TikTok, or YouTube. On the Android side, a recent update makes it fully usable via the DeepTrack 4.0 tracking from the Insta360 app.
Selfie stick, tripod and battery, all built in
The other strength is the all-in-one. The handle extends into a 210 mm selfie pole for more distance, the base opens three small legs that make it a stable tripod, and the battery serves as a backup charger. It also includes a selfie mirror for framing with the best rear sensors of the phone, a teleprompter, and a professional composition grid to refine your shots. All folds into a size of 97.9 x 178.4 x 36.7 mm that fits in a jacket pocket, weighing 357 grams. That’s four accessories in one, which matters when every cubic centimeter counts in a van.
Image quality and handling
The Flow 2 Pro unleashes your smartphone where the native app holds it back. Through the Insta360 app, you can film in 4K up to 60 frames per second (120 in slow motion), in Apple ProRes and log for editing, with manual exposure and white balance. The stabilization on three mechanical axes remains impressive while moving, and the FPV mode allows for impossible movements handheld. You control it with the wheel and joystick, switch between vertical and horizontal with a press, and trigger remotely with hand gestures, from an Apple Watch or a second phone.
Its limitations, which we acknowledge
We prefer to say it: the Flow 2 Pro depends on the smartphone placed on it. Its optical qualities, potential overheating, and storage that fills up quickly in ProRes remain those of your phone, not a large camera. The MaxSafe magnetic mount is sold separately and reserved for iPhone; without it, the included universal clamp does the job. Finally, it is not waterproof: for water, it’s not for him. Nothing prohibitive for its use, but it’s good to know in advance.
Flow 2 Pro, Luna Ultra, Ace Pro 2, X5 or GO 3S: which one to choose?
In our Insta360 range, the Flow 2 Pro is the only one that doesn’t film itself.
