Description
The SolarFlow 1600 AC+ answers a simple question: how to store the surplus from already installed panels, without touching what works? It plugs into the AC side, into a socket, and works with the existing inverter. This specification concerns the device alone, without additional battery or meter.
Its specification can be summarized in three figures: 1,920 Wh of LiFePO4 battery, 800 W of default power, and a possible extension up to 11.52 kWh with five batteries.
Who is this device for?
It targets households that already have panels, on the roof or balcony, but no storage. It also targets those who have a dynamically priced subscription and want to charge when the price is low to discharge when it is high.
It does not have a built-in MPPT controller: you do not directly connect panels to it. If you are starting from scratch, the SolarFlow 800 Plus or the SolarFlow 800 Pro 2 are more logical. For a more powerful roof, the SolarFlow 2400 AC+ is the next step up.
Features to know
The figure of 1,600 W deserves careful reading. By default, the output is limited to 800 W. Alone, the device can reach 1,400 W, and 1,600 W with an additional battery, but Zendure makes this unlocking subject to local regulations and the intervention of a qualified electrician.
When charging, count on 1,400 W for the device alone and 1,600 W with an additional battery. The casing is certified IP65 and the battery has self-heating below 0 °C. Charging is rated from 0 to 55 °C, discharging from -20 to 60 °C.
Off-grid socket, and what you need to know
The off-grid socket is disabled by default: it is activated in the app. It provides 1,400 VA with the device alone and 1,600 VA with an additional battery. Zendure announces a switch in 15 ms during a power cut.
It also serves as an input: a micro-inverter can recharge the device, within the limit of 1,400 VA alone and 1,600 VA with battery. Be careful, this socket is not waterproof in operation. The manual recommends an indoor installation for this use.
Metering and control
The app and Wi-Fi are mandatory for setup. For discharging to truly follow the house, you need to add a compatible meter, sold separately: Zendure Smart Meter 3CT or D0/P1, Shelly Pro 3EM, Shelly 3EM or Everhome EcoTracker IR. One buyer regrets that this need is not more visible before purchase.
The RJ45 port is used for RS485 communication with Zendure meters: it is not a network port. Zendure also announces support for MQTT for Home Assistant and Homey.
What independent tests and buyers say
We have not had this device in hand. The test from techtest.org (in German) measures 1.624 kWh of usable capacity on average based on the base, or 84.6% of the advertised value, and 85.5% average efficiency. It notes a reaction time of 1 to 3 seconds and an app that is sometimes unclear, but clearly recommends the device as affordable and expandable AC storage.
On the Zendure store, buyers appreciate the installation and operation with their panels. Two owners of a SolarFlow 800 Plus report a limitation: with the 1600 AC+ as a complement, the control and charging between the two devices require adjustments.
Compatibility and extension
Up to five additional batteries can stack on the device. Zendure lists the AB1000, AB1000S, AB2000, AB2000S, and AB2000X, and also offers the AB2000L on this page. The box contains the device, a 3 m AC power cable, two wall mounts, screws, and a connector removal tool.

Our verdict
Benefits
- Connects to the alternative side, without replacing the existing inverter
- Off-grid socket of 1,400 VA with the device alone
- Expandable up to 11.52 kWh with five batteries
- Designed for dynamic rates with low-cost charging
- IP65, self-heating, and a stated warranty of 10 years
Disadvantages
- Limited output of 800 W by default, unlocking requires a qualified electrician
- No integrated MPPT: no live panel
- Meter sold separately for efficient use
- 1.624 kWh usable measured by techtest.org on 1.92 kWh advertised
- Non-waterproof off-grid socket in operation
The right choice if you already have panels and an inverter and just want to store the surplus. Make sure to plan for a compatible meter. If you're starting from scratch, a model with MPPT inputs will be simpler.
